Hey everyone! So, it's 2026 and I'm still absolutely obsessed with Hogwarts Legacy. Seriously, this game has aged like a fine butterbeer. The magic of exploring the Highlands never gets old, and part of that magic is hunting down those tricky Infamous Foes. Today, I want to share my personal, battle-tested guide for one of the coolest—and toughest—duo fights in the game: The Grim and The White Wolf. Forget taking them on one by one; these two alpha wolves come as a package deal in a cramped cave, and let me tell you, it's a wild ride. I've wiped more times than I care to admit figuring this out, so learn from my mistakes!

🗺️ Pinpointing the Pack's Lair
First things first, you gotta find them. These furry fiends aren't just wandering around. Head to the west of Keenbridge. I highly recommend fast-traveling to the Keenbridge Floo Flame—it'll save you a broomstick ride. The exact spot is a cave entrance tucked away in the cliffs. Trust me, the game doesn't make it obvious. The cave itself? Let's just say it's cozy... for them, not for you. It's a tight space, which completely changes how you need to fight.
🔥 Phase 1: Dealing with the Undead Welcoming Committee
You step into the cave, and bam! You're not just facing wolves. Inferius enemies spawn in too. If you're new to these spooky boys, here's the golden rule: FIRE IS YOUR BEST FRIEND. Normal damage spells just tickle them. You must light them up.
-
My Go-To Spell: Confringo. This long-range fire blast is perfect. It lets you keep some distance while setting them ablaze.
-
The Strategy: Hit an Inferius with Confringo, then unleash your most powerful combo spells while they're burning. They're tanky and keep coming, so damage output is key. Don't get surrounded!

⚠️ The Arena is Your Biggest Enemy
This is the real challenge. The cave is small. Like, really small. You can't do those fancy aerial dodges or create much space. Both the wolves and the Inferius are melee powerhouses, and they love this close-quarters chaos.
-
Constantly be moving, even if it's just small circles.
-
Use the environment to your advantage, but don't get cornered. A corner in this fight is a game-over screen.
-
Clear the Inferius as quickly as possible. Fighting two wolves and zombies in this space is a nightmare.
🐺 Phase 2: Dividing and Conquering the Dynamic Duo
Once the undead are ash, it's just you vs. the two wolves. You can't fight them both head-on simultaneously. You need to focus one down.
I recommend targeting The White Wolf first. Here's my personal combo:
-
Keep an eye on The Grim. It will charge you.
-
Timing is everything! As The Grim charges, hold for a perfect Protego block.
-
The moment you block, immediately snap your aim to The White Wolf and hit it with Stupefy! The block-stun from Protego will give you that tiny window.
-
While The White Wolf is staggered, go absolutely ham. Unload your strongest spells. I love chaining Diffindo (for that slicing damage) with Confringo.

🦮 The Final Showdown: Taking Down The Grim
With The White Wolf defeated, it's a 1v1 against The Grim. The pressure's off, but don't get cocky!
-
You can use the same Protego -> Stupefy tactic you used before, but now directly on The Grim.
-
The beautiful thing? Neither wolf has shields! This means you're free to use any spell color you want. No breaking through yellow or purple bars here.
-
My personal preference? Stick with high-damage red spells. Confringo is still a champion, and Bombarda does massive damage and can knock The Grim back, giving you precious breathing room.
-
Stay mobile, keep casting, and watch for its lunge attacks. Once you get the rhythm, you'll take it down.

✨ My Pro-Tips & Loadout Suggestions
Based on my many, many attempts, here's what I swear by:
-
Talent Investments: Put points into anything that boosts Confringo damage and reduces its cooldown. The Stupefy Mastery talent (which damages all enemies around you on a perfect Protego) is also S-Tier for this group fight.
-
Potions are NOT cheating! Chug an Edurus Potion (for defense) and a Thunderbrew (creates a damage cloud around you) before entering the cave. It makes a huge difference.
-
Spell Loadout: I ran with Confringo, Diffindo, Bombarda, and Accio (to pull Inferius into fire patches). Having a control spell like Arresto Momentum can also give you a crucial pause button.
-
Mindset: This fight tests your crowd control and situational awareness more than raw power. Be patient, focus on the priority target (Inferius -> White Wolf -> Grim), and manage that tiny space.
Beating The Grim and The White Wolf is one of the most satisfying combat achievements in Hogwarts Legacy. It forces you to use everything you've learned. So grab your wand, stock up on potions, and go show those wolves who's the top magical predator in the Highlands! What was your strategy for this fight? Let me know in the comments below! 👇
