I still remember the humid swamp air of Hawezar when Father Dymus pulled me aside in Zarbinzet. I had been chasing whispers of Elias and Lilith for days, but this time the trail felt personal. Father Dymus told me a curate named Symon had gone missing, and the old priest\u2019s worry was infectious. He asked me to find Symon, and I agreed without hesitation.
Meeting Father Dymus
I found Father Dymus near the center of Zarbinzet, a small settlement that always smells of damp wood and old prayers. His face was shadowed by the chapel\u2019s canopy as he spoke about Symon. From that moment, my journal updated with the To Walk a Dark Path quest, and I knew this was not just another fetch errand.
East Into Faith\u2019s Edge
Following the priest\u2019s directions, I headed east out of Zarbinzet into Faith\u2019s Edge. The marsh hardened into cracked earth and abandoned farm plots. My objective marker pointed to the Decaying Farmstead on the eastern side of the search area, but getting there was half the fight. As soon as I crossed the old fence line, a group of bandits rushed from the shadows.
I cut them down quickly. One of them dropped a Lockbox Key, which I used to open the Forgotten Lockbox tucked near the ruined barn. Inside, I found a worn journal page titled A Record Of My Journey Pt. II. The text mentioned a place called Tibault\u2019s Grasp, and my next destination snapped into focus.
Following the Journal to Tibault\u2019s Grasp
The journal did not give an exact marker, but I knew the wetlands well enough to guess. I traveled south to the Fethis Wetlands, using the Ruins of Rakhat: Inner Keep Waypoint as my anchor. The area was thick with reeds and the distant croak of unseen beasts, and I kept one hand on my weapon the entire time.
At the marker, I found the Frightened Pilgrim. I expected a simple conversation, but the pilgrim lunged at me without warning. After I subdued them, I pulled back to the west a little, let the dust settle, and then approached again. This time they were willing to talk.
Questioning the Three Pilgrims
The real clue came from questioning all three pilgrims scattered around the marsh. Each one gave me a different fragment of Symon\u2019s state of mind, and together their stories painted a picture of a man losing himself to the same dark path I was walking. One spoke of a ritual chant, another of a carved symbol on a stone, and the third described the road toward At Any Cost.
Once I had questioned all three, To Walk a Dark Path completed. But the game did not leave me hanging. The next quest in the chain, At Any Cost, appeared in my journal automatically. I also received gold, a solid chunk of experience, Renown for Hawezar, and a Gem Cache holding several different gems. That cache alone made the detour worthwhile, especially since I was saving gems for socket bonuses.
What I Learned From Symon\u2019s Trail
This quest chain is more than a simple errand. It follows the same route Elias used while trying to summon Lilith, and it eventually leads to the very location shown in Diablo 4\u2019s cinematic trailer. Walking that path as a player made the larger story feel more grounded. Even with newer content like Vessel of Hatred available in 2026, I still recommend this side quest to anyone who wants a slower, lore-heavy detour through Hawezar.
